Heavy Weight Cut Away Support

Cut away backing is recommended for unstable and knit fabrics because it remains behind the design after embroidery, helping the finished stitch work retain shape and structure. This 3.0 oz Super Hefty backing provides strong support while still maintaining a soft feel against the garment.

How to Use

Cut a piece of E-Zee Cut Super Hefty backing to fit your hoop size. Place the backing underneath the garment, hoop the garment and backing together, then embroider the design.

After embroidery, remove the item from the hoop and trim away the excess backing with sharp scissors or shears, leaving approximately 1/4" around the outside of the design. Rounding the corners instead of leaving them square can help prevent curling later.

Helpful Trimming Tip

To avoid nicking the fabric when trimming, hold the backing while allowing the garment to drape. Position the garment so you can clearly see both the edge of the design and the fabric as you trim.
