Cut away backing is recommended for unstable and knit fabrics because it remains behind the embroidery after trimming, helping the design maintain its shape through wear and repeated laundering. This 3.0 oz super hefty backing provides strong support for dense designs while keeping a soft feel against the garment.

How to Use

Use one pre-cut sheet or trim the stabilizer as needed to fit your hoop size. Place the backing underneath the garment, hoop the fabric and backing together, then embroider the design.

After stitching, remove the garment from the hoop and trim away excess backing with sharp scissors or shears, leaving approximately 1/4" around the outside of the design. Rounding the corners instead of leaving them square can help prevent curling later.

Helpful Hint

To avoid nicking the fabric when trimming, hold the backing while letting the garment drape. Position it so you can clearly see both the edge of the design and the fabric for a cleaner, safer trim.
