GF 201QS Quick-Split scored liner on permanent printable vinyl stickers and decals

General Formulations has introduced Quick-Split™ Scored Liner, a new crack-and-peel backing designed to make printed stickers, decals and graphics faster and easier to apply.

The new liner uses a universal score pattern spaced every 1.25 inches. Instead of picking at the edge of a sticker or trying to separate the face film from an unscored backing, users can bend the finished graphic along a score line, crack the liner and begin peeling from the newly exposed edge.

GPI Supplies is introducing the permanent wide-format construction as ProPeel FlexSplit, giving print shops an easy-peel printable vinyl option for stickers, decals, labels, window graphics, retail displays and general signage.

Quick answer:

Quick-Split is a scored release liner with crack-and-peel lines every 1.25 inches. The score pattern creates multiple starting points for removing the backing from printed stickers and decals.

General Formulations Introduces Quick-Split Scored Liner

General Formulations announced Quick-Split™ Scored Liner on June 15, 2026. The new release-liner system was developed to improve the handling and application of pressure-sensitive graphics across several printing and converting workflows.

The initial launch includes wide-format digital media and Narrow Format Digital, also called NFD, sheet constructions. General Formulations has also announced plans to expand Quick-Split into screen and offset solutions.

The first stocked wide-format products are:

  • GF 201QS: 3.4 mil matte white printable vinyl with clear permanent adhesive
  • GF 302QS: 3.4 mil matte white printable vinyl with clear removable adhesive

Both constructions use the same universal 1.25-inch scored pattern, allowing printers to choose the adhesive type that best matches the intended application.

What Is a Scored Liner?

The liner is the backing paper that protects a pressure-sensitive adhesive until a sticker, decal or graphic is ready to be applied.

With a conventional unscored liner, the user normally begins at an outside edge or corner. This can be inconvenient on small stickers, detailed contour-cut decals and graphics with rounded corners.

A scored liner contains engineered split points in the backing. When the finished graphic is bent along one of these points, the liner cracks while the printed vinyl remains intact. This exposes an edge of the backing that can be lifted and peeled away.

Quick-Split places these score lines every 1.25 inches. The repeated pattern gives the user several possible peel points instead of relying on one split positioned in a fixed location.

How Quick-Split Works

  1. Print and cut the sticker or decal.
  2. Locate a score line on the release liner.
  3. Bend the finished graphic along that line.
  4. Allow the backing to crack at the score.
  5. Peel away one or more sections of liner.
  6. Position and apply the graphic to a compatible surface.

Why Easy-Peel Sticker Backing Matters

The quality of a printed sticker is not limited to its color, finish or cut accuracy. The way the customer removes and applies the sticker also influences the final experience.

A customer who has trouble separating the vinyl from its backing may bend a corner, crease the printed face, touch the adhesive repeatedly or give up on applying it altogether. An accessible crack-and-peel point helps make that final step more intuitive.

Benefits for print shops and sticker producers

  • A better finished product: The easy-peel backing adds a useful feature customers can immediately understand.
  • No separate peel tab: The liner itself provides multiple places to begin removing the backing.
  • Efficient short-run production: The same media can support custom sticker orders, promotional graphics and repeat production work.
  • Useful across different decal sizes: The repeating score pattern makes it more likely that a score line will fall within the finished graphic.
  • Controlled positioning: Installers can remove one liner section first, position part of the graphic and then peel the remaining backing.
  • Improved handout stickers: The feature is particularly useful when stickers are distributed directly to customers, employees, event attendees or retail buyers.

Applications that benefit from scored backing

  • Promotional stickers
  • Product labels
  • Equipment decals
  • Window graphics
  • Point-of-purchase displays
  • Retail and event graphics
  • Brand decals
  • Nameplates and identification graphics
  • General indoor and outdoor signage

The demonstration below shows how the liner cracks along the score pattern and creates an easy starting point for backing removal.

For shops selling individually cut stickers, the key benefit is easy to demonstrate: bend, crack and peel. Customers do not need to search for the correct corner or receive special instructions before applying the graphic.

Permanent vs. Removable Quick-Split Printable Vinyl

The scored liner works the same way on both initial wide-format constructions. The primary difference is the adhesive beneath the printed face film.

Feature GF 201QS Permanent GF 302QS Removable
Face film 3.4 mil matte white vinyl 3.4 mil matte white vinyl
Adhesive Clear permanent acrylic Clear removable acrylic
Scored liner 1.25-inch universal spacing 1.25-inch universal spacing
Best suited for Longer-term stickers, decals and general signage Temporary promotions, displays and removable graphics
Removal expectation Strong permanent bond; clean removal is not guaranteed Designed for clean removability within the rated application period on suitable surfaces

Choose permanent adhesive when the decal or graphic is intended to remain installed for an extended period.

Choose removable adhesive when the application is temporary and easier removal is an important project requirement.

Quick-Split for Wide-Format Rolls and Narrow-Format Sheets

The Quick-Split launch extends beyond one printer type or production environment.

Wide-format digital media

GF 201QS and GF 302QS are designed for common wide-format solvent, eco-solvent, latex and UV-curable printing systems. General Formulations announced standard stocked 54-inch and 60-inch by 150-foot rolls.

GPI Supplies is making the permanent ProPeel FlexSplit construction available in additional slit widths for shops using smaller printers and cutters:

  • 20 inches x 150 feet
  • 30 inches x 150 feet
  • 54 inches x 150 feet
  • 60 inches x 150 feet

Narrow Format Digital sheets

The NFD 201QS and NFD 302QS constructions bring the same easy-peel concept to compatible narrow-format digital production presses. These sheet products are offered with permanent or removable adhesive options.

NFD 201QS uses permanent adhesive for narrow-format digital sticker and decal production.
NFD 302QS removable adhesive stickers with Quick-Split scored backing
NFD 302QS pairs the scored backing with a removable adhesive construction.

This cross-platform approach can help print businesses deliver a more consistent easy-peel sticker experience across different production equipment and order volumes.

Printing and Cutting Quick-Split Vinyl

Quick-Split media is intended to fit into familiar print-and-cut production workflows, but shops should test their settings before beginning a long production run.

Use a dry application method

GF 201QS and GF 302QS are designed for dry application. Apply the graphic to a clean, dry and compatible surface that is free from dust, oil, wax, silicone and cleaning residue.

Consider printer edge holders

The Quick-Split wide-format construction uses an 84# scored liner. Because it is slightly thinner than some conventional 90# liners, edge holders may help support media stability and reduce possible edge lift during printing.

Test cutting pressure and blade depth

General Formulations recommends beginning with a new 60-degree blade when die cutting the wide-format construction. Set the blade depth so it cuts cleanly through the printable vinyl while maintaining enough liner integrity to hold the graphic in place during production.

Confirm score placement on small graphics

The score lines repeat every 1.25 inches, but very small finished pieces may not always contain a score. Review the intended sticker dimensions and cut layout when the easy-peel feature is a required part of the final product.

Test the intended surface

Adhesive performance can vary by substrate, coating, surface energy, cleaning method and environmental conditions. Test adhesion and removal on the actual application surface when performance is critical.
