EMC 10: Off Color Index Error

EMC 10: Off Color Index Error

The Off Color Index Error indicates that the needle case is not properly aligned with the machine's color indexing system. When this occurs, the EMC 10 may be unable to accurately identify the selected needle position.

Check the Color Change LED

Locate the Red Color Change LED on top of the Color Change PCB cover.

If the LED is illuminated, the needle case is not currently on color index.

Reindex the Needle Case

  1. Insert a screwdriver into the access hole located on the left side of the Color Change PCB cover.
  2. Slowly rotate the cam left or right.
  3. Watch the Red Color Change LED while turning the cam.
  4. Continue adjusting until the LED turns off.

When the LED goes out, the needle case is properly aligned and considered On Color.

Clear the Error

Once the machine is back on color index:

  1. Access the Head Timing Menu.
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Perform the ALT + Up Arrow command to activate the Go To Head Up function.
  4. The machine should return to the proper position and clear the error.

If the LED Will Not Turn Off

If rotating the color change pulley moves the needle case to different needles but the Color Change LED remains illuminated, the Color Change PCB may have failed.

In this situation, replacement of the Color Change PCB may be required. Consult the EMC 10 Technical Manual for PCB replacement procedures or contact your Melco parts distributor for assistance.

Additional Information

Proper color indexing is critical for accurate needle selection and color changes. If the machine frequently goes off color index, inspect the color change mechanism for wear, loose components, or sensor issues.
