Movable Cutter Not Returning Properly

Movable Cutter Not Returning Properly

A common cause of needle breakage is a movable cutter that fails to return to its correct position after trimming. When this happens, the cutter can interfere with the needle's movement, leading to repeated needle breaks and inconsistent machine performance.

To inspect the cutter, remove the needle plate and observe the movable cutter. In normal operation, the cutter should extend approximately 1 mm. If it is not returning beneath the fixed cutter, an adjustment may be required.

To access the adjustment components, remove the silver plate located behind the needle plate, as well as the silver cover at the end of the machine arm. This will expose the black control rod that operates the movable cutter. In some cases, this rod can become misaligned, preventing the cutter from returning correctly.

Check the cutter position and adjust it so that only about 1 mm extends beyond its resting position. The adjustment screw is located at the end of the black control rod and can be used to fine-tune the cutter alignment.

After making the adjustment, manually cycle the cutter to verify that it moves freely and returns smoothly beneath the fixed cutter before reassembling the machine.
